Our Story

Mudhrai, meaning ‘hand gestures,’ represents a fundamental element of classical Indian dance forms. Through Mudhras, stories are conveyed, aesthetics are elevated, and emotions are embodied, allowing both dancer and viewer to connect on a profound level. Mudhras serve as a sacred language through which artists communicate with their audience, transcending the need for spoken words.

As a global platform, Mudhrai has made it its mission to bring the beauty of Indian classical dance to the world, allowing learners from all corners of the globe to connect with this rich tradition. Our online learning ecosystem is designed to deliver an immersive, engaging experience—whether you’re learning from the comfort of your home or diving deeper into the intricacies of Bharatanatyam from anywhere in the world.

Our curriculum has been carefully crafted, tested, and refined to ensure that it works seamlessly in an online format. It’s structured to provide a holistic approach to dance training, with comprehensive courses that blend technique, theory, and expression. Our students, from diverse backgrounds and locations, have shared glowing feedback on how this unique teaching method has empowered them to grow as artists.

Our Comprehensive Curriculum Includes:

  • Adavus (basic steps/movements) & Choreography: Foundation and creative expression
  • Techniques from the Natyashastra and other classical texts: Connecting theory with practice
  • Abhinaya (expression) and storytelling: Communicating emotion through dance
